2FA Two-Factor Authentication for GoSMS

In today’s modern age, it’s important to protect your data. The most common protection is the use of a sufficiently good password. However, even this can be cracked in some cases. This is where the next level of protection comes in. This is so-called two-factor authentication (two-factor authentication). To ensure maximum security of our customers’ data, GoSMS now offers the activation of this two-factor authentication for account logins.

What is two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication means verifying the identity of a person trying to log into an account with two independent pieces of information. This added information, which is important for account entry, makes it a significantly more reliable protection than the more commonly used one-factor authentication, which can be a password and an email, for example. Two-factor authentication most often includes a login name, email, password, and an additional added element, for example, by copying a code from an external application.

Advantages and disadvantages of two-factor authentication?

The big advantage of two-factor authentication is increased security against attacks and misuse of your data. It’s really very hard to crack this two-factor authentication because the second element adds another layer of protection that is very difficult to access. Even so, there are attempts to break this additional layer of protection, for example by sending fraudulent SMS with a fake code.

The only disadvantage of using two-factor authentication is the slightly longer time it takes to log into the account. However, this small disadvantage is definitely worth the really significant increase in security against data leaks in your account.
